Our Children’s Wing Needs:
Our children’s wing is deteriorating and in desperate need of complete renovation.- Children’s Sunday School space needs to be reconfigured to meet needs. Current configuration is inadequate and outdated.
- There is no handicap access to the 2nd floor or basement of the children’s wing. Special needs children must be carried up or down steep, narrow flight of stairs.
- The wing’s electrical wiring system is inadequate.
- Access to senior adult and children’s wing is through our narrow hallway. Multiple avenues of access are needed to help traffic flow.
- There are no restrooms on the 2nd level or basement level of the children’s wing.
Recommended Plans:
- Completely gut children’s wing and reconfigure rooms to meet ministry needs. Our children’s wing will be transformed into a state-of-the-art facility.
- New restrooms will be constructed on the 2nd floor and basement of the children’s wings. Existing restrooms will be renovated. The wing will be completely rewired electrically and brought up to code.
- The second floor of the children’s wing will be connected to the 2nd floor of the Family Life Center through the 2nd floor of the new atrium. This will also give elevator access to the children’s wing.
- A ramp system will be constructed from the new atrium area to give access, including handicap access, to all floors of the children’s wing and to the senior adult wing.
- Heating and air-conditioning system will be replaced.
- Chapel ceiling will be repaired and some remodeling done, including sound and video system, to make the area more multi-purpose.
- Additional children’s classrooms will be constructed on the 2nd floor of the atrium area.
- An atrium will be built to tie entire church facility together. The atrium will house new Sunday School rooms, 2nd floor elevator access to children’s wing and ramp system.
Additional Benefits of Atrium:
- Provide a covered drive – through to drop off family on rainy days.
- Serve as welcome center and primary reception area of church.
- Provide quality space for showers, teas and wedding receptions.
- Provide large quality space for meals so gym can be used for activities.
- Serve as common fellowship area.
Additional Residual Plans:
- Pre-school and nursery will be moved to children’s wing. This will provide a more secure area especially during worship.
- Sunday School classes in every age group will be grouped together.
- Kitchen will be expanded and food served on atrium side of facility.
- One of our first floor classrooms will also serve as a library.
